"TL AKO SA'YO" Lyrics

Verse I

Ewan ko ba kung bakit type kita
'Di ka naman

guwapo
Kahit malabo ang pagpili ko
T.L. ako sa 'yo

Panay kantiyaw ng mga utol ko
Dehins ka daw

bagay sa kagandahan ko
Malabo na ba raw ang mata ko
At na-T.L. kita

Verse III

Kalyeng

Manila

I keep coming back to Manila
Simply no place like Manila
Manila, I'm coming home

I walked the streets of San Francisco
I've tried the rides in Disneyland
Dated a million girls in Sydney
Somehow I feel like I don't belong

Hinahanap hanap kita Manila
Ang ingay mong kay sarap sa tenga
Mga jeepney mong nagliliparan
Mga babae mong naggagandahan

Take me back in your arms Manila
And promise me you'll never let go
Promise me you'll never let go

Manila, Manila
Miss you like hell, Manila

No place in the world like Manila

I'm coming here to stay

"Manila" is a song of the band Hotdog , a band that gained its fame in the early 1970's . In their era, the band   introduced a genre called "Manila Sound", a theme depicts the light and happy side of being in Manila or the Philippines as a whole.

The HotDog Band

The persona in this song is a Filipino currently located on another country. He describes what he misses on this dear place called Manila.A place he compared to a loved lady - even left towards a new place, still yearns and longing to come back.He compares the streets of Manila to the countries and ladies  he have met. Those places were wonderful to him but he can't still feel being at home to.

What a wonderful song to promote our own tourism.

It's More Fun In the Philippines!!!

Featured Song: You

"You" Lyrics

You give me hope,
The strength, the will to keep on;
No one else can make me feel this way
And only you
Can bring out all the best I can do;
I believe you turn the tide
And make me feel real good inside.

You pushed me up
When I'm about to give up;
You're on my side when no one seems to listen
And if you go,
You know the tears can't help but show
You'll break this heart and tear it apart;
Then suddenly the madness starts

CHORUS:
It's your smile,
Your face, your lips that I miss,
Those sweet little eyes that stare at me
And make me say,
I'm with you through all the way.

'Cause it's you
Who fills the emptiness in me;
It changes ev'rything, you see,
When I know I've got you with me

You pushed me up
When I'm about to give up;
You're on my side when no one seems to listen
And if you go,
You know the tears can't help but show
You'll break this heart and tear it apart;
Then suddenly the madness starts

CHORUS:
It's your smile,
Your face, your lips that I miss,
Those sweet little eyes that stare at me
And make me say,
I'm with you through all the way.

'Cause it's you
Who fills the emptiness in me;
It changes ev'rything, you see,
When I know I've got you with me.

It's your smile,
Your face, your lips that I miss,
Those sweet little eyes that stare at me
And make me say,
I'm with you through all the way.

'Cause it's you
Who fills the emptiness in me;
It changes ev'rything, you see,
When I know I've got you with me.

"You" is a song of Basil Valdez on the year 1985.Basil Valdez is a Filipino singer born in November 8, 1951.She started his career as a folk singer. Then later on, focused on ballad songs in which some of the songs were composed by his friend and renowned composer Ryan Cayabyab. Mostly are religious songs which includes "Sambahin Ang Ngalan Mo","Ama Namin","Aba Ginoong Maria" and ""Kaibigan".

A personal decision made him quit him singing career when she had committed himself in becoming a "faith healer" in 1990.

I think this song is for all the Mothers. No words can ever describe how far they have sacrificed themselves just to take care of their children. The persona in this song describes how his mother builds her up to cope with this cruel word.A pushing force when needed,a listening friend to air her heartaches and certainly the one who can surely build her confidence enough.

A great thanks to all Mothers!!!

Featured Song: Napakasakit Kuya Eddie

Napakasakit Kuya Eddie Lyrics

Mahal kong asawa.

Well, yeah! Let us continue with our oldies but goodies post.I have also noticed one thing.During the 1980-1900's OPM there was no technology yet available to enchance voice quality. That means those voices we hear on our oldies track are real, raw and amazing voices.Wow!

Our Featured song "Napakasakit Kuya Eddie " is definitely dedicated to our Overseas Filipino Workers. They are revered by the government because of the income they produce to our country due to their remittances.OFW's are also called mga "Bagong Bayani" ("Modern Day Heroes").

This song is composed by Roel Cortez in 1984. "Napakasakit Kuya Eddie" opens to the public a typical unfortunate event that could always happen to any overseas worker.

Mr. Ruel Cortez

The persona on this song is an OFW who has sacrificed a lot for the future of his family. Surviving with just working and depriving himself of personal pleasures. He dreamed of a family on a well kind of economic situation. But it was just a dream.

His wife -  who was supposed to manage his sent money for the children suddenly become irresponsible.Maybe because she has become used to living in luxury with so much money.

And on his return home, he saw his ruined family. The eldest being a drug addict. Having another child that even not his son!

The song ends as the persona, asks "Kuya Eddie" some advice on how to continue his life.

Maybe he want's to ask can be done on how to restore his family.

Indeed.A very unfortunate event. But it is always a risk that OFWs are always willing to face, just to lift their family from poverty and provide them a more comfortable life.

A salute to the Overseas Filipino Workers!

Featured Song: Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin

Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin Lyrics
Lumayo ka man sa akin

At ako'y iyong limutin

Masakit man sa damdamin
Pilit pa rin titiisin.
Mga lumipas na ligaya
Ang kahapong may pag-asa
Mga pangarap na walang hanggan
Ay naglaho paglisan mo, mahal ko.
Pagkat saan ka man naroroon
Pintig ng puso ko'y para sa iyo
Naghihirap man
Ang aking damdamin
Nagmamahal pa rin sa iyo giliw
Limutin man kita'y di ko magawa
Hindi pa rin ako nagbabago
Ang pag-ibig ko sa iyo'y
Lagi mong kasama.

Mga sandaling ligaya
Kung ikaw ang siyang kasama
Sana ay di na natapos pa
Wala ng nais pang iba.
Sa gabi'y naaalala
Nalulumbay pagkat wala ka
Ang yakap mo'y aking inaasam
Sana'y maulit pang muli
Mahal ko.

Tuluyan man tayong di magkita
Umaasa pa rin ako sinta
Pagkat mahal kita manalig ka
Walang katulad mo sa buhay ko
Ikaw lamang ngayon,
Bukas, kaylan man
Naririto ako asahan mo
Ang pag-ibig ko sa iyo'y
Lagi mong kasama.
Ang pag-ibig ko sa iyo'y
Lagi mong kasama.

My Chosen songs for these week are quite oldies.haha!

Well I devote this week to post songs on the OPM era when lyrics of songs and originality mattered most.I could have written about songs and  latest artists, but I was disappointed when I noticed that most of the songs nowadays are just revivals.I wish I could find a modern artist/band that could still make a decent original composition. A must see on my next week blog! :D

Coming back to our featured song, "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin" ("Even You Go Away From Me" in English is a song of the famous Rodel Naval on the late 1990's. The song title has also been a title for a drama series on ABS-CBN from January to May 2012.

My first impression on this song, is a loving one, expressing his misery to his/her departed loved one.The persona on the song reminisces those bliss of the "stolen-moments" ( "sandaling ligaya"), then suddenly conducts a reality check - that his loved one is nowhere near him/her.A pledge of unconditional adornment, despite not seeing his missed part is the one the singer is assuring. No time limit, even has a change of never seeing each other again.

Then I asked my self why and how could this happen in real life. When a couple may stay with each other as long as they fight for their love.

Then a sudden situation.
A scenario of a  soldier to his loved wife and family.Bound to by his duty to his country, he must leave his family to be a part of the nation's force to keep them safe.Although protecting them, he must leave his family and risk his life. By having death of a comrade as a common day to day experience, the soldier has only his love and his hope to survive in order to come back someday.

Featured Song: Bayan Ko

Bayan Ko Lyrics

Ang bayan kong Pilipinas,

Lupaín ng ginto't bulaklák.

Pag-ibig ang sa kaniyang palad
Nag-alay ng ganda't dilág.
At sa kaniyang yumi at ganda,
Dayuhan ay nahalina.
Bayan ko, binihag ka,
Nasadlák sa dusa.
Ibon mang may layang lumipád,
Kulungín mo at umíiyák!
Bayan pa kayáng sakdál dilág,
Ang 'dî magnasang makaalpás?
Pilipinas kong minumutya,
Pugad ng luha ko't dalita,
Aking adhika,
Makita kang sakdál laya!

"Bayan Ko"  or "My Country" in English was originally composed in 1929 by a kundiman writer named  José Corazón de Jesús. It has been given renditions by different artists since then, but the version that has the greatest impact on Filipinos was the one of Freddie Aguilar. When one says "Bayan Ko", Freddie Aguilar has been always assumed the singer of the song.

Some people say that "Bayan Ko" is considered as the second national anthem of the Philippines.Well, I agree, definitely listening to this song awakens my patriotic side.Lyric by lyric I can feel that I am a proud Filipino.

This song also relates to our current situation on our Scarborough Shoal. We have always claimed it as our territory. Then after the unverified rumor that the place has a rich abundance of natural gas. Various countries have suddenly raised their claim.

Here is the Bayan Ko on youtube,The video has been the creative work of the uploader. That time there was no official music video on hit songs :D.Credits to the original uploader.
