Featured Song: Napakasakit Kuya Eddie

Napakasakit Kuya Eddie Lyrics

Mahal kong asawa.

Well, yeah! Let us continue with our oldies but goodies post.I have also noticed one thing.During the 1980-1900's OPM there was no technology yet available to enchance voice quality. That means those voices we hear on our oldies track are real, raw and amazing voices.Wow!

Our Featured song "Napakasakit Kuya Eddie " is definitely dedicated to our Overseas Filipino Workers. They are revered by the government because of the income they produce to our country due to their remittances.OFW's are also called mga "Bagong Bayani" ("Modern Day Heroes").

This song is composed by Roel Cortez in 1984. "Napakasakit Kuya Eddie" opens to the public a typical unfortunate event that could always happen to any overseas worker.

Mr. Ruel Cortez

The persona on this song is an OFW who has sacrificed a lot for the future of his family. Surviving with just working and depriving himself of personal pleasures. He dreamed of a family on a well kind of economic situation. But it was just a dream.

His wife -  who was supposed to manage his sent money for the children suddenly become irresponsible.Maybe because she has become used to living in luxury with so much money.

And on his return home, he saw his ruined family. The eldest being a drug addict. Having another child that even not his son!

The song ends as the persona, asks "Kuya Eddie" some advice on how to continue his life.

Maybe he want's to ask can be done on how to restore his family.

Indeed.A very unfortunate event. But it is always a risk that OFWs are always willing to face, just to lift their family from poverty and provide them a more comfortable life.

A salute to the Overseas Filipino Workers!
