Featured Band: Parokya ni Edgar

Parokya ni Edgar or Edgar's Parish to literaly translate it in English is a band formed in 1993 by a group of students of Ateneo de Manila University.Although its name name  is "Parokya ni Edgar" no band member bear the name "Edgar". Some sources said that the band name was derived  when Jeric Estaco, thier former lead guitarist had an epic recitation in one of their Filipino classes way back in their  highschool.

Band Members as of June 2012

Alfonso "Chito" Miranda, Jr. (lead vocals)

Francis Vincent "Vinci" Montaner(backup vocals / monologue / comic relief)

Buhawi "Buwi" Meneses (bass guitar)

Darius Gerard "Dar" SemaƱa (lead guitar)

Gabriel Ignatius "Gab" Chee Kee (rhythm guitar / vocals)

Ferdinand "Dindin" Moreno (drums)

Their latest album is entitled "Middle- Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers" which was released in 2010. The album's cover picture is what I have placed as introduction image.

In my own perspective, the album "Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers" have the bands expression of longing their young days in this time where they so called young adults. Reminiscing "Torpe" moments with the song "Pangarap Lang Kita" has two versions one has emotional side (feat. Happy Sy) and another brings happiness to the gloom (feat. Vince). Bringing a sense of upbeat on most of their album music, especially in the song, One Hit Combo", certainly proves that they have not lost their youthful charisma to the audience.

I think Parokya ni Edgar has still a lot more to grow. :D
